Profile of the programme: 

The Information and Communication Systems Security major combines deep study of natural and scientific training subjects (higher mathematics, physics, algorithmic languages and programming, computer methods of information processes and systems study, special parts of mathematics, the heart of the circuit theory, signals and processes in information and communication systems, theory of information and coding) with advanced study of professional training subjects (electronics and microcircuitry, algorithmic principles of cryptology, cryptographic systems and protocols, WEB programming, computer networks, information and communication systems, database and knowledgebase, computer systems architecture, network operational systems, applied cryptology, methods and means of cryptanalysis, computing, security of information in information and communication systems, systems of bank security, authentication systems and means, technologies and special programming parts) including basic subjects of allied majors: Systems of technical information protection and Information security management.
It enables to prepare specialists for solution of the range of actual tasks in the field of information security that provide development, implementation and exploitation of protected information and communication systems.
The total amount of the curriculum is 243 ECTS credits, including modules of humanities and social subjects — 32,5 credits, modules of fundamental, natural, and general economic subjects — 76 credits, modules of professional and practical training — 131,5 credits.

Key learning outcomes: 
  1. Knowledge and understanding
    • The graduates have to know and understand:
    • main principles of data protection and information and communication systems databases on the basis of software and facilities of information protection inclusive of regulatory, legal and organization measures system requirements;
    • access control to information and communication system and its services on the basis of organization security policy principles on the base of software and hardware complexes;
    • secure databases and information flows integrity and privacy in information and communication system on the basis of organization security policy principles on the base of software and hardware complexes;
    • access control to information resources and databases in information and communication systems, including to load libraries and attachments;
    • main methods of implementation and maintenance of system, object- based and applied software information and communication systems and their efficiency analysis;
    • secure integrity and privacy of system, object based and applied software support in its implementation, usage and interchange;
    • know main principles of development, implementation, efficiency analysis, maintenance of facilities and complexes of technical information security in information and communication systems;
    • methods of the components development, implementation, maintenance and efficiency analysis of information security complex systems;
    • investigation methods of the information activity object, computer-aided system and evaluation of information resources security means with appraise the security of information and communication systems and their resources on the basis of special technical means usage.
  2. Intellectual (thinking) skills
    • The graduates have to be able to:
    • do time-management of the accomplished works, their sequence, duration and deadlines as a result of activity analysis of enterprise, institution, organization, authorities or its structural subdivision and reasons of problems as well as possible ways of their solving;
    • make decision management according to the competence using forms and methods of selection and analysis of the appropriate information about situational problems solving that appear in the sphere of informational security support;
    • carry out actions in information and communication systems organizing and implementation: analyze information, supplied by systems, with the aim of detection of possible unauthorized access to information using special technical facilities, in conditions of secret regime ensuring in enterprises, institutions, organizations with different property forms;
    • test information and communication systems on the basis of calculation and examination according to the information security procedures with results fixing in appropriate documents;
    • analyze information, supplied by information systems, with the aim of the typical features detection of possible unauthorized access.
  3. Practical skills (subject-specific)
    • The graduates have to be able to:
    • prepare and conduct experimental researches of promising means and complexes of information and communication systems, testing and processing of the experiment results;
    • plan and carry out work for the synthesis of protected computer and information systems, as well as be able to develop documentation for implementation and use of objects protection.
  4. Key/transferable skills (generic)
    • The graduates have to acquire scuch generic abilities and skills:
    • ability to take into account the basic economic laws, ecological principles and apply elements of socio-cultural competence;skills in taking into account processes of social and political history of Ukraine, legislative principles and ethic norms in productive or social activity;
    • calculation skills;
    • ability to put knowledge to use;
    • ability to self-education and continue the professional development;
    • communication skills, including oral and written communication in Ukrainian and, at least, one of the widespread European languages;
    • skills in interaction with other people, ability to work in groups;
    • skills in organizing own activities and effective time management.

Occupation: an information and communication systems security specialist

A specialist is able to perform the following professional activities:

  • to consult in security issues of industrial facilities, premises and public buildings with the security evaluation;
  • security guard activities carried out by computerized security devices;
  • services in information protection in computer and other outfit from copying and break-in.
Access to further studies: 
The Bachelor in the Information and Communication System Security major can continue his/her studies at the university in the second cycle degree Master/Specialist in the Information and Communication System Security major.
Examination regulations, assessment and grading: 
Provisional Regulation on knowledge evaluation and recognition of students’ rating in the credit-modular system of the educational process.
Graduation requirements: 
Completed curriculum with credit load 240 credits, defended bachelor’s thesis.
