Profile of the programme: 
Specialists may participate in designs developing in the branch of biotechnology and production of biotechnological products, in management of a biotechnological enterprise, in operation, repair, and modernization of chemical and bioengineering equipment,in investigation of biochemical processes with the use of ways and methods of biotechnology and cultivation of bio objects; the specialist is able to apply knowledge and skills concerning the transformation of the living cell in order to obtain a new product and in order to solve industrial problems of its commercial realization (development and cultivation of bio objects, production of amino acid preparations, antibiotics, vitamins, hormones, flavour and aroma food additives, interferon, and enzymes; production of food and fodders proteins, fermentation of tobacco, bio production of food acids, fermentative procession of row materials, and production of bio indicators and vaccines). In accordance with Bolognia system, the specialists may find their jobs in enterprises and institutions where biotechnological processes, biotechnological ways and methods are investigated or used.
Key learning outcomes: 
The Bachelor in biotechnology whose qualification is a specialist in biotechnology must know:
  • chemical, physico-chemical, physical, biochemical, microbiological fundamentals of biotechnological processes of production;
  • fundamentals of genetics and bioengineering for obtaining technological producents for bio products in different spheres of application of biotechnology,
  • offer of services in obtaining practically useful products in related branches of industry,
  • health protection and environment protection,
  • basics of engineering issues which are dealt with in such subjects as Processes and Apparatus, Equipment for Biotechnological Production, Application of Electronics, Automation, Engineering Graphics, Design of Biotechnological Production, as well as issues of ecology and safety of vital activity of the human, practical implementation of these requirements,
  • application of main knowledge of economics of biotechnological and food production,
  • knowledge about enterprise and management of biotechnological production, marketing and merchandise study in market economics for practical problems solving;
  • analysis of a technological process, ensuring the observance of the parameters of technological process at the necessary level;
  • management of production in a given amount;
  • work with devices, conduction of necessary tests, estimation of the obtained results;
  • chemical-technological check of production;
  • settling the issues of economic expedience of technological decisions;
  • choosing the way of the further direction of own professional level improvement as well as improvement of skills in adjustment of biotechnological equipment both in an enterprise and in a laboratory;
  • preparation of a feeding medium and crops-producents for cultivation;
  • treatment (purification, clearing, drying, etc.) and packing of finished products;
  • checking the preparation of feeding media, technological producents, bio products, bio pharmaceutic preparations, etc.;
  • work in the sphere of production of biotechnological products and biotechnological services.
Occupational profiles of graduates with examples: 
The Bachelor can occupy the following primary positions: specialist in biotechnology, bio product engineer, foreman of a shift, foreman of a bay, process engineer. The primary position is a one which does not require any graduate's previous experience in professional work.
  • A specialist in biotechnology participates in different technological operations for production of preparations, products, and materials by means of methods of biological synthesis for needs of medicine, agriculture, food industry, ecology, industry, etc.(no experience in work is needed).
  • A bio product engineer participates in implementation of technology for production of preparations, products,and materials by means of methods of biological synthesis for needs of medicine, agriculture, food industry, ecology, industry, etc. as well as in services for preparation of bio objects, monitoring of biochemical processes, bio purification of bio systems, environment protection, bio indication of pollutions, wastes cancellation by means of biotechnological (aerobic, anaerobic) methods , etc.(no experience in work is needed).A bio product engineer manages subdivisions of production of preparations, products, and materials by means of methods of biological synthesis for needs of medicine, agriculture, food industry, ecology, industry, etc.(more than 2 years experience in work is needed).
  • A foreman of a bay in an enterprise.
  • An analyst-microbiologist offers services in preparation of bio objects, works as an engineer in management, operation, and repair, as a teacher of professionally-oriented subjects in specialized educational establishments.
  • A bioproducts sales manager.
  • An inspector-biotechnologist checks the technology of production of preparations, products, and materials by means of methods of biological synthesis for needs of medicine, agriculture, food industry, ecology, industry; the inspector also checks the course of a technological process; the inspector works during different stages of production of fodder proteins, bio manures, bio stimulators, bio pesticides, bio ethanol, pharmaceutic bio preparations, bio additives, biologically active compounds (amino acids, oxicarbonic acids, antibiotics, vitamines, hormones, flavour and aroma additives,interferon, enzymes); an inspector conducts technical control and examination of the work of product engineers for observance of the norms and standards; an inspector makes measurements of concerning the purity of bio products, water, and air; an inspector analyzes the potential sources of environment pollution, gases, and sewage. More than 5-years experience is necessary for the right to work in checking and testing food products.
