Profile of the programme: 

The System Engineering major combines advanced study of fundamental (mathematics, physics, electrical engineering, algorithmic languages and programming) and professionally centered computer subjects to solve the problems associated with large complex systems, which have a complex interaction among their components . This field is actual for different areas of science and technology, in particular: automatic control systems, transmission and data processing systems, peripheral means of informational and automated systems of management and telecommunications, integrated robotic systems and flexible productions. Students study in specialized learning laboratories. Leading domestic and foreign published sources are used for teaching students according to curriculum.
The graduates are able to solve practical problems pertaining to the development, creation, maintenance and exploitation of automatic means and systems, programming of computer techniques means, the designing of control systems. They can hold post of manager in offices of computerized automation systems services , to participate in the development of software and hardware of control systems, work in research, design institutes and in the enterprises of electrotechnical, radioelectronic and instrument-making profiles.
General activity object: research, testing, assembly and installation, service and updating of automatics and informaticsmeans and systems, computer engineering, automatic control systems, integrated robotic systems, data transmission systems, peripheral means of informational and automated control systems.
The Bachelor in System Engineering is trained and may be involved in the following economic activities:

  • production and maintenance of computers and other information processing equipment;
  • production of electronic equipment parts;
  • production, maintenance and service of test equipment;
  • exploitation and service of integrated robotic systems and computer-aided automatic systems;
  • exploitation and service of objects’ management systems control.
Key learning outcomes: 
  1. Technological and executive function
    • Performance assurance, exploitation, proper condition, maintenance, installation and updating, technical re-equipment of computer systems of manufacturing processes automation in the enterprise. To control the equipment functioning and its operation regime the graduates have to be able to do the following actions: manage the operating system; develop and debug programs and build graphic objects based on modern facility.
    • Production efficiency increasing. To assess the prospects for the development and modernization of automated systems the graduates have to be able to use modern PC to perform design work and solve problems of automatic control (annotating, abstracting).
    • To conduct research of automation facilities and functioning processes of control systems using the following skills: to describe the automatic control systems and their elements using equations in dynamics; to analyze transitional and steady regimes of linear and nonlinear systems and their separate components functioning; to synthesize digital control systems.
    • To develop control algorithms, data processing, diagnostics and engineering objects control, special mathematical software in building control systems and automation using: processes analysis, characteristics and functioning figures of automatic devices electronic components; electronic devices designing according to given technical characteristics; engineering, installation and setting up electronic devices; experimental determination of the technical characteristics of electronic devices and their parameters.
    • Providing with operation and proper condition of computer systems of enterprise automation. To perform technically complicated works in setting up automated systems, including digital programming and microprocessor control, conducting analysis and synthesis of automatics discrete devices schemes, generators and pulse shaper, programmed logic integral schemes.
    • To diagnose failures of computer systems and their operational elimination using the following skills: administration of PC operating system; creation and management of databases using modern management database systems for the PC; to design interface boxes for adjustment of external devices with the central processor.
    • To maintain management and automation systems. Based on the results of technical condition diagnostics, using a universal test equipment, to maintain technique of automation systems.
    • Carrying out work pertaining to documentation and paper work. Be able to provide processing, sending, receiving, saving documents, using special hardware and software means.
  2. Designing and engineering function
    • The control and automation systems design. To develop design solutions, charts and to perform technical calculations, using the skills of components and automation devices building. To determine the reliability of control and automation schemes. To carry out the mathematical modeling of computer-aided systems of automation and their units.
    • Control and diagnosis measurement devices design. To develop functional and fundamental schemes of software and hardware means of automation measurement, control and diagnostics. To apply optimal structures of automation devices design. To use normative materials for solving the design and technological problems and to apply systems of automated computer problems design.
  3. Control and organizational function
    • To conduct accounting and certification of control and automation systems. To conduct accounting and certification of control and automation systems, using the company current regulations, instructions with results fixing in the proper documents. To conduct accounting, certification and examination of products, equipment of control and automation systems, using the the company current regulations, instructions with results fixing in the proper documents.
    • Improvement qualification staff who works with control and automation systems. To be able to make out a proposal pertaining to project directions, technical and economic decisions in order to comply the project requirements of technical tasks and patent clearance, using the requirements of national standards and regulations. To make graphs of conducting planned and prevention maintenance of control and automation systems, and to ensure its accident-free state on the modern exploitation methods implementation basis.

Access to further studies: 

Selection of bachelors, who want to continue the study at the Education Qualification Level(EQL) of Specialist/Master of high university degree is held in accordance with the general admission regulations to universities, which are confirmed by the Ministry of Education of Ukraine.
The Specialist degree gives an opportunity to otain a high university degree in Control and Automation Systems major and takes qualifications of engineering systems analyst.
The Master degree gives an opportunity to otain a high university degree in Control and Automation Systems major and takes qualifications of master and systems analyst.

Graduation requirements: 

According to the Bachelor in System Engineering specialization on the development, creation, maintenance and exploitation facilities and systems of automation, and modeling with means of computer technology of these systems, a comprehensive state examination is focused on testing skills in the following subjects:

  • Algorithmic languages and programming.
  • Computer methods of control systems investigation.
  • Electronics and micro-circuitry.
  • Theory of automatic control.
  • Basics of design and Computer -aided Design (CAD).
  • Elements of discrete automation devices.
  • Information theory.
  • Fundamentals of information collection, transmission and processing.
  • Computer-aided systems and data transmission networks.
  • Microprocessor technology.
  • Applied Data Analysis.
  • Operating systems and databases.

Comprehensive State Assessment is held on the basis of examination paper, which includes testing of theoretical knowledge and practical skills of the above mentioned disciplines. The maximum score — 100 points.
