Profile of the programme: 

Students receive training on documentary and informational support of the enterprises, institutions and organizations management based on the use of innovative technologies in management. The field of their activities is the record management system (RM) in enterprises, institutions and organizations of all the branches and property categories, as well as in public administration of all levels, in executive administration and local government of district level, in education establishments. They provide accuracy of document and information activity of those institutions, showing the ability to work with all types of documentary information; the knowledge of computerised documents circulation peculiarities, and the latest equipment, processes of unification and branch standardization of document and information spheres.

The total credit load of the curriculum is 240 ECTS credits, including social and humanitarian modules — 40 cr., fundamental, natural science and general economic modules — 72 cr., modules of professional and practical training — 128 cr.

Key learning outcomes: 
  1. Knowledge and understanding
    • Normative, research and methodological materials in documentation support management
    • Documentation processes of management activity.
    • Organization of the work with internal documents in management activity.Forming, using and storing of the document resources (library, archive, museum, information).
    • Communication technologies; the theoretical basis for the communication culture development as a social and cultural phenomenon; model of business behaviour.
    • Stylistic norms of office documents, peculiarities of the lexical, morphological, syntactic devices of business documents.
    • Organization of the record management in the enterprise; organization of the record management service.
    • Computer basics, standard and specialized software, hardware for document processing, rules of hardware, printing and copying equipment, and intercom exploitation.
    • Planning procedure, design and technology of the work on the basis of the record management services organizational and computational equipment, development methods of the record management optimal structures.

    • The ability to use professionally-profiled knowledge and practical skills in fundamental disciplines in record management.
    • The ability to apply knowledge and understanding in order to solve the quantitative and qualitative tasks.
    • The ability to provide the complex of the management activity documentation and its organization in accordance with the main reference terms of the Unified state system of record management.
    • The ability to carry out analytical and synthetic information processing.
    • An excellent written and oral presentation of scientific and practical material.

    • The ability to use operating systems, including DOS and Windows, and both local and global computer networks.
    • The ability to use application software, including word processors, spreadsheets, databases, business computer graphics.
    • The skills of debugging and providing preventing measures in operating systems, including DOS and Windows.

    • The ability to operate hardware, printing and copying equipment, intercoms.

The graduates do the professional work according to EB (examination board) 003:2005: the secretary of the administrative bodies, the reviewer, the reviewer of the core activities, the secretary of the executive committee, the secretary of the population self-organisation body, the secretary of the head (of the organization, enterprise, institution), the records management organizer (state bodies), the document controller, the head of the press service (local authorities), the head of the press service (central state bodies), computer systems analyst, computer data bank analyst, the specialist in intellectual property, the specialist in the public relations.

Occupation: documents control officer

Manages the management documentation security service. Organizes the timely correspondence processing, documents delivery according to the destination. Provides systematic monitoring of the documents compliance deadlines and proper issuance. Organizes the storage of the current record management materials, their formation into files, their documents custody in the departmental and government archives. Makes the files nomenclature of the RM and the institution. Participates in the preparation of the meeting and their maintenance works organization. Provides printing and duplication of documents. Organizes the job documents preparation. Develops the regulations of the RM structural subdivision, the employee functions.

Occupation: archive head

Manages the organization archives case administration at the enterprise. To lead the archive’s staff. Organizes the creation of the archival information resources on the basis of the computer technology. Uses the operating systems, including DOS and Windows, in both local and global computer networks; uses application software, including word processors, spreadsheets, databases; uses business computer graphics. Develops the regulations on the archive, official instructions of the archivist, clerk.

Occupation: document controller

Develops and implements the technological processes of work with documents and documentation information with the means of organizational and computational equipment for the accounting, execution control, operational saving, and reference work. Participates in organizing and improving of the record management service. Controls the record management state in subdivisions. Develops a unified documentation systems of all levels and purposes and the documentary information classifiers. Organizes a documents stock, optimizes flow of documentation. Organizes the use, maintenance and development of the documentation system. Participates in the development, maintenance and improvement (in terms of information support) of the management systems and new information technologies, which are based on the use of computational equipment.

Access to further studies: 
The Bachelor in Documentation and Information Activity major can continue his/her studies at the university in the second cycle degree Master/Specialist in Documentation and Information Activity major.
Examination regulations, assessment and grading: 
Provisional Regulation on knowledge evaluation and recognition of students’ rating in the credit-modular system of the educational process.
Graduation requirements: 
Completed curriculum with credit load — 240 ECTS credits, defended bachelor’s thesis.
